Residential Tenancies Practice Guide
The Queensland Government has passed a Bill, to establish a temporary emergency regulation making power to address issues arising from COVID-19. Under the temporary regulation, tenants who have experienced excessive financial hardship with a loss of income of 25% or more or the rent payable is 30% or more of their income, cannot be evicted or listed in a tenancy database for rent arrears.
Other measures will see tenants able to decline physical non-essential inspections and the option of virtual inspections, as well as further options for tenants experiencing domestic and family violence.
